IOC, Lausanne

At the heart of the IOC Olympic House in Lausanne, Bodenmann worked closely with Etienne Berney SA to create a remarkable architectural feature: a suspended, double-helix circular staircase made of oak. Inspired by the Olympic rings, this design goes beyond its practical function to become a place for meeting and gathering, symbolising movement and the athletes’ spirit. Completed in just five months, this staircase—combining precision, expertise and passion—illustrates Bodenmann’s commitment to excellence and fine craftsmanship.

Located in the heart of Lausanne, this monumental staircase is truly the backbone of the Olympic House. Inspired by the five Olympic rings, it does more than connect floors; it also provides a gathering space, flooded with light beneath an impressive glass roof. The staircase’s oak geometry evokes the athletes’ dynamism and perseverance. Bodenmann’s teams worked for five months to transform the meticulously designed plans by the 3XN architectural firm into an architectural masterpiece, now admired by all who visit the building.
